Founding Operator
About DOJO
We're building a new product category - an AI-powered Operating System that transforms how companies grow. One and a half years in, we're growing 20% month-over-month, just closed a $6M seed round, and used by 100+ world-class brands. We were recently named one of Wired's 100 Hottest Startups and included on Sifted's Startups To Watch.
Under the hood, we're building a next-generation AI and data platform - multi-agent systems, a real-time data fabric synthesizing hundreds of millions of signals, graph-based knowledge representations, and proprietary evaluation infrastructure. All in production, all evolving fast. Our technical surface spans agentic reasoning at scale, data quality across thousands of heterogeneous sources, and real-time intelligence from noisy unstructured data - in a domain where results are immediately measurable. Our engineers come from teams like Feedzai, OutSystems, Talka, and Unbabel, where shipping production AI and data systems at scale is the baseline.
We're a product company first. We don't build tools for consultants to configure - we build a product customers love, one that works flawlessly, with great design, supported by engineering excellence that makes it possible. We make the simple easy and the complex possible. And we build our business around this ethos.
About This Role
This is the first dedicated operations hire at DOJO. You'll report to Antonio (Co-CEO, Ops) and work closely with Duarte (Co-founder, UK) to take the operational weight off both of them - and to build the internal operating system that lets the rest of the team run faster.
The job is deliberately broad. You'll own RevOps, the relationship with our external finance and legal providers across both Portugal and the UK, investor update drafting and metric reporting, HR and office operations for both entities, product↔customer-success coordination, and the process and automation layer that ties it all together.
Some of these workstreams already exist in pieces. Others don't exist at all - and you'll write them from scratch. You're not joining a function. You're building one.
Where this role goes depends on how far you take it — the ceiling is high.
What You'll Do
RevOps
Own CRM hygiene and pipeline discipline
Run the sales-ops rituals - forecast, commission tracking, AE↔CS handoffs
Support Duarte day-to-day in running the UK commercial motion
Keep the data clean enough that founders can trust what they see
Finance and legal liaison
Act as the single point of contact for external accountants, legal counsel, and compliance vendors across both entities (PT and UK)
Review commercial contracts before founders sign them - you catch the overreach before it becomes a problem
Enforce our standard MSA and DPA terms, and push back on unnecessary deviations
Protect founder calendar time from back-and-forth email threads
Investor relations and metric reporting
Own the monthly and quarterly investor update cadence - you pull the metrics, draft the narrative, Antonio edits
Maintain the KPI dashboard so it's actually reliable
Prepare materials for board conversations
Office and HR operations
Run Lisbon office logistics
Own the operational side of HR: onboarding, offboarding, PTO tracking, ESOP administration, hiring pipeline coordination
Cover the same for the UK entity - this is scope Duarte explicitly wants to hand off
Product ops (lightweight)
Own the release launch ritual so no feature ships without CS and marketing knowing
Run the product↔customer-success feedback loop so real-world feedback gets back to the team that can act on it
Not a PM role - you coordinate and make sure the seams between teams don't drop anything
Process and automation
Write the playbooks that don't exist yet
Build no-code automations (Zapier, n8n, Notion, Claude prompts) to compress repetitive work
Use AI aggressively - if it can be automated, automate it
Who You Are
You're someone who:
Sees a problem and starts on it without waiting to be asked
Finds a way when there's no playbook - "desenrascada" in the best sense
Is organized to a fault - calendar discipline, document hygiene, follow-through
Communicates clearly in writing and in conversation - you're the interface to external vendors, customer back-offices, founders, and the team, and you sound like a professional in every channel
Wants the hard truth about your work and changes based on it
Is comfortable with ambiguity - you arrive without a playbook and write one
Is AI-native - you already build your own no-code automations and have opinions about which tools to use and when
Is numerate - you can build a model in a spreadsheet without hand-holding
Is product-literate - you can hold a credible product conversation even if you're not the one making decisions
Experience we'd like to see
3-5 years of work experience
Generalist background: ex-management consultant (McKinsey/BCG/Bain/OC&C or similar), ex-founder or early operator, ex-founder's associate or chief of staff at an earlier-stage company, ex-startup ops, or ex-PM ready to broaden
Prior exposure to B2B SaaS commercial motions (contracts, pricing, sales cycles)
Prior startup experience between seed and Series B
Portuguese and English fluency (both required - you'll work with Portuguese accountants and lawyers, and with UK founders, providers, and customers)
Nice-to-have: finance or legal background (ex-Big 4, ex-law firm, ex-IB analyst), martech or adtech exposure.
We don't care about
Which university you went to
Whether you've held a comparable title before - the work matters, the title doesn't
How many frameworks you can recite
Whether you've done every specific task in this JD before - smart and resourceful beats prior domain experience
